Clark Howard

For more than 25 years, Clark Howard has devoted his radio career to taking calls and advising listeners how to “save more, spend less and avoid rip-offs.” In 1987, the 31-year-old Howard had just sold a successful travel agency business and was embarking on an early retirement when he began his broadcasting career by making a guest appearance on WGST/Atlanta to discuss travel deals. That and subsequent appearances were so well- received that WGST gave him a show of his own, Cover Your Assets, in 1989, devoted to money matters and consumer advocacy. In 1991, Howard moved to WSB/Atlanta, where The Clark Howard Show was frequently the top-rated show in its time slot. During each show, Howard enthusiastically offers advice to callers, providing information about deals worth pursuing and at least one “Clark-rageous” moment involving scams and rip-offs that listeners should avoid. In 1998, the show went into syndication and has been heard on over 200 stations nationwide. In 1993, Howard launched Clark’s Consumer Action Center, an Atlanta- based phone line devoted to listeners’ money problems. Clark has also written ten books, including the best-seller Living Large in Lean Times, co- written with Mark Meltzer and Theo Thimou. Clark Howard was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2015.
